Synopsis: A britlit film adaptation of George Eliot's classic tale of love, betrayal, and social prejudice takes place during 1799 in rural England.  Adam Bede is a humble carpenter who is smitten by the beautiful but shallow Hetty.  She spurns his love, instead favoring marriage to a wealthy nobleman.  Hurt, yet undaunted, Adam Bede continues in his honest love and pursuit of the girl and for the dream of a better life.
