Synopsis: The consummate matchmaker finally meets her match in this film adaptation of one of Jane Austen's more lighthearted novels about English country sophisticates. Emma (Kate Beckinsale) has made it her pastime to pair young men and women together until her innocent meddling makes a mess of things. She is constantly watched and guided by the slightly elder Mr. Knightley (Mark Strong), from whom she eventually receives a strong rebuke - making her realize that he is the man she loves. Lovers of English period drama will delight in this well done literary adaptation by Andrew Davies.
